The Book Of Sound

SONS D’HIVER FESTIVAL (PARIS, FRANCE) IN 2022

The Book of Sound is an electroacoustic opera and installation. The opera’s libretto, developed for Damon Locks and Lisa E. Harris, is based on the work of fictional polymath and iconoclast, Helder Velasquez Smith. Smith, the opera’s main protagonist, is an alchemist, astronomer, science fiction author, poet, composer, painter, filmmaker, and philosopher from Brasilia, Brazil. The installation is activated in real-time by musicians who control the video projection on aluminum screen sculptures, which act as avatars for the operas protagonists.
